University Honors College

For undergraduate students seeking academic rigor and additional challenges, the University Honors College offers the chance for unique experiences both in and out of the classroom, and a community of like-minded people.  Honors College students may choose from opportunities including honors courses, honors housing, supplementary advising, and a distinctive baccalaureate degree.

English Language Institute

The English Language Institute at the University of Pittsburgh has been teaching courses for English as a second language (ESL) since 1964.  The ESL courses are for international students who:

  • Are admitted to Pitt and need additional language development skills
  • Plan to attend other universities and colleges in North America 
  • Wish to improve their general ability in English 

Courses are offered on a full-time, part time, and summer-intensive basis.
