Undergraduate Internships

Experiential Learning

At Pitt, we are dedicated to helping you grow into a well-rounded person and future professional who can put what you study into practice in the real world. Building on what you study in the classroom, applying those theories, and testing your skills in real-world situations prepares you for life after graduation. Three-fourths of Pitt students participate in internships, co-ops, study abroad, and undergraduate research with faculty.

Internship Guarantee

Students who participate in the University of Pittsburgh Internship Prep Program are guaranteed an internship of experiential learning before graduation. For students studying business, arts, sciences and health-related professions who would like to complement their academic career with off-campus experiential learning, the university provides connections to international and US-based internships.  Internships can become a reality through the Office of Career Development and Placement Assistance.

If you are interested in an internship opportunity, please contact the Internship Coordinator as early as possible by calling 412-383-4487 or emailing intern@pitt.edu to schedule an appointment.  We strongly recommend that students meet with the Internship Coordinator at least two semesters prior to seeking an internship.

Currently, Pitt is developing a robust network of internship opportunities in Shanghai, China. Shanghai is the largest city in the world and an international hub of science, technology, culture, business and trade.

STUDY ABROAD

Gaining cross-cultural exposure by living and studying in another country is given high priority at the University of Pittsburgh.  Study abroad can complement your major or minor coursework or simply deepen your appreciation of another culture.  These experience provide you with a chance to explore firsthand the language, history, and people of another land.  And in the process, you gain a competitive edge in the jobs marketplace.
